How do I ACE the digital SAT Math section?

Digital SAT is the next evolution of this important test, bringing both new challenges and exciting opportunities. Why go digital? Well, it makes test-taking easier, safer, and more relevant. The test consists of two sections: Reading and Writing and Maths. So, before you commence your test preparation for SAT this article will give you a brief insight about the Maths section since it is very dynamic. So, buckle up as we dive deeper.

What’s on the Digital SAT Math Section?

The total test time is of 2 hours and 14 minutes and the math section comprises 44 questions with a time allocation of 70 minutes. Moreover, this section is divided into two test modules, each containing 20 operational questions and 2 pre-test questions. You are granted 35 minutes for each module.

1. Algebra – In this part, you will be asked 13 to 15 questions related to Linear equations in one variable, Linear equations in two variables, Linear functions, and Systems of two linear equations in two variables.

2. Advanced Maths – As the same suggests, here you need to level up he the questions are related to Equivalent expressions, Nonlinear equations in one variable system of equations in two variables, and Nonlinear functions, you can expect 13-15 questions from this topic.

3. Problem-solving and Data Analysis – In this, you need to apply quantitative reasoning to solve ratios, rates, proportional relationships, percentages, and probability, and evaluate sample statistics. A total of 5–7 questions are asked from this topic.

4. Geometry and Trigonometry – From this section total of 5-7 questions are asked on area and volume parameters of Lines, angles, circles, right triangles, and right triangle trigonometry.

Tips for Preparation

1 Utilise SAT study materials

The Digital SAT is relatively new, so there is limited practice material available.

The SAT test is a high school standardized test, and in general, all the topics throughout the school years will be covered.  It is important that you understand all of the concepts in Math, both basic and advanced. It is important to have a strong mathematical foundation.  In some Digital SAT books, you can practice math questions, or simply prepare all the Math questions from the school curriculum. Take advantage of these SAT study materials to improve your knowledge and understanding of the test. 

2 Practice, practice, practice!

Taking practice tests is the most efficient way to increase your SAT score.

After taking a Digital Practice Test, you will receive a detailed diagnostic analysis. 

In addition to giving yourself a taste of what kind of questions you will face and what the overall content idea is, you will also learn about your strengths and weaknesses by taking one practice test before you begin your preparation.

7 Ensure that linear equations become your forte

The SAT math section not only includes direct linear equations but also linear graphs and linear equations in word problems. Ensure that this topic is thoroughly clear to you as it forms the base of most questions so that you can move on to other topics.
