Tips for Preparation
1 Utilise SAT study materials
The Digital SAT is relatively new, so there is limited practice material available.
The SAT test is a high school standardized test, and in general, all the topics throughout the school years will be covered. It is important that you understand all of the concepts in Math, both basic and advanced. It is important to have a strong mathematical foundation. In some Digital SAT books, you can practice math questions, or simply prepare all the Math questions from the school curriculum. Take advantage of these SAT study materials to improve your knowledge and understanding of the test.
2 Practice, practice, practice!
Taking practice tests is the most efficient way to increase your SAT score.
After taking a Digital Practice Test, you will receive a detailed diagnostic analysis.
In addition to giving yourself a taste of what kind of questions you will face and what the overall content idea is, you will also learn about your strengths and weaknesses by taking one practice test before you begin your preparation.
You can also take the Digital SAT Practice PSAT/SAT through Socrato. The test will provide you with detailed information about the subjects/topics’ strengths and weaknesses. The PSAT can be taken as a first test since there are limited online SATs available with detailed diagnostics.
3. Review Basics
Since you know Digital SAT covers a range of topics, make sure your foundation is strong.
4. Simulate Test Conditions
Mimic test conditions during your practice sessions. This includes using the same device you’ll use on the actual test day and practicing in a quiet environment.
5 Memorise formulas
Apart from careless mistakes, I would say not knowing a formula on the day of the test but knowing how to solve the question could be the next most frustrating thing. While most formulas are provided to you, you should always ensure that you not only memorize but also understand them. This will allow you to apply them confidently and will save you time.
6 Familiar with the Digital SAT tools
As the test is online all the tools are also available. Practice the test using an online calculator, and get familiar with the calculator so you can use it on your actual exam day.
7 Ensure that linear equations become your forte
The SAT math section not only includes direct linear equations but also linear graphs and linear equations in word problems. Ensure that this topic is thoroughly clear to you as it forms the base of most questions so that you can move on to other topics.
If you follow these tips to get an 800 in the SAT math section, it will significantly take off your burden in getting a higher score in the English section. So, keep a calm mind during test day and knock it out of the park!
