About Socrato

Socrato is a web-based test preparation and assessment platform. Socrato’s patent pending technology helps users quickly identify their strengths and weaknesses, enabling them to focus on the right areas faster, saving study time. Socrato also allows parents, teachers, and tutors to assist with and track students’ progress so they can help keep students on track.Socrato’s unique platform also supports groups, from small tutoring classes to entire school districts. Teachers and administrators can manage shared test content as well as discover specific learning needs. Based on these analytics, tutors, teachers, and administrators can tailor their plans for each student, class, or grade, resulting in higher scores.

Leadership Team

Raju Gupta – Cofounder and President. Mr. Gupta played key roles in the management, business development, support, and solutions delivery of two startups: Sapient Corporation and ArcStream Solutions. Over the last 14 years, Mr. Gupta has led many complex, large-scale initiatives and successfully delivered for global corporations and start-ups in the US, Canada, Europe, and India. From 2003 onward, Mr. Gupta was part of a VC backed Mobile/Wireless startup, ArcStream Solutions, that was bought by a public company (Keane Inc.) in 2005. Prior to this Mr. Gupta worked at Sapient Corporation in various roles on key accounts. During his tenure at Sapient (1994 – 2003), Sapient went public (NASD: SAPE) and grew to over 3500 people. Mr. Gupta holds a BS in electrical engineering from MP, India and M.S. in computer science from University of Massachusetts, USA.

Michael Oates – Cofounder and Chief Technologist. Mr. Oates has over 20 years of technology leadership and consulting experience and was an early employee (5th) of Sapient Corporation (NASD: SAPE). Mr. Oates helped build Sapient into a premier business and technology consulting firm with over 3500 people worldwide. Mr. Oates served as Vice President of Technology responsible for helping Fortune 500 companies across various industries achieve business value through the innovative use of technology. In addition, he helped established core capabilities within Sapient to manage project risk, technology reuse across projects, and dissemination of best practices aimed at fueling rapid company growth. Prior to joining Sapient, Mr. Oates worked at Cambridge Technology Partners (NASD: NOVL) and attended Cornell University.

Marie T. Oates – Director of Communications. Ms. Oates has led Boston PR Group, Inc. based in Boston, MA and New York City for almost 20 years. A versatile marketing and communications executive, she is experienced in advising leadership personnel at companies, academic institutions and foundations with communications and marketing strategy. An avid writer, Ms. Oates has written several books, and her opinion pieces have appeared in the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, the Boston Globe, the Washington Times and a number of other publications. She has served as the president of American Medical Writers MA Chapter and as a national board director. She serves on several foundation boards and is a member of Boston College’s Council for Women.
