The August 2025 SAT is here, and tomorrow many high school juniors and seniors across the country will log in to take the digital SAT. Months of preparation lead up to this day, but what you do the night before the test is just as important as all your practice.
Since the SAT is now completely online, your Friday-night prep looks a little different. Instead of sharpening pencils, you’ll be checking your device, digital tools, and test-day setup. Follow this 15-step last-minute checklist to stay calm, confident, and fully prepared.
1. Confirm Your Bluebook App Works
The SAT is taken in the College Board’s Bluebook app. Make sure it’s downloaded, updated, and working properly on your device. Log in tonight to double-check.
2. Charge Your Device
Whether you’re using a laptop or tablet, plug it in overnight. A fully charged device is non-negotiable. Bring your charger with you tomorrow, just in case.
3. Pack an Approved Backup Device (if allowed)
Some schools allow you to bring a backup device. If that’s the case, prepare it tonight with Bluebook installed and tested.
4. Verify Your Admission Ticket
Log into your College Board account and confirm your admission ticket. Print or save a copy in case your school requests it.
5. Pack Your Valid Photo ID
Even though the test is digital, you still need an approved photo ID to enter the test center. School IDs, driver’s licenses, or passports work.
6. Prepare Scratch Paper & Pen/Pencil
The test itself is online, but students are given scratch paper for working out problems. Bring a pen or pencil for notes and calculations.
7. Check Calculator Access
Bluebook has a built-in graphing calculator, but you may also bring your own SAT-approved calculator if you prefer. Make sure it works and has fresh batteries.
8. Pack Snacks and Water for Breaks
You’ll get short breaks between sections. Pack brain-friendly snacks (like nuts, fruit, or a granola bar) and a bottle of water.
9. Plan Your Morning Route
Confirm how you’ll get to your test center and how long it takes. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early to avoid rushing.
10. Review Digital SAT Rules
Re-read the College Board’s guidelines tonight. Leave prohibited items (phones, smartwatches, notes) in your bag or at home.
11. Avoid Cramming
Friday night is not the time to learn new material. Instead, briefly review formulas, strategies, or notes—then stop. Focus on rest and confidence.
12. Practice Relaxation Techniques
Take 5–10 minutes for deep breathing, light stretching, or meditation to ease nerves and prepare for restful sleep.
13. Set Multiple Alarms
Set at least two alarms (phone + alarm clock) so you wake up on time. Don’t risk oversleeping on SAT day.
14. Sleep Well (7–8 Hours)
Your brain needs to be sharp for problem-solving and focus. Power down screens early and aim for at least 7 hours of sleep.
15. Visualize Success
Before bed, spend a minute picturing yourself confidently taking the SAT—calm, focused, and ready. Positive mental rehearsal reduces anxiety.
Final Thoughts
The digital SAT may look different from the old paper test, but the fundamentals remain the same: preparation, focus, and calmness matter most. By following this Friday night checklist, you’ll wake up confident and fully ready for test day.
Trust your preparation, stay calm, and remember—you’ve got this. Good luck to all students taking the August 23rd SAT!
